Siege of Vicksburg
It’s hard to believe now, those centuries ago, the United States ever more united, there were two armies, the two channels of thought – the army of the States in the South and the rest of the American army. There was a time in Southern slave states from seemingly prosperous North Rose, declared their secession and that was what led to the Civil War. Many battles and sieges took place in the Civil War (1861 -1865). One of the most noted among the small battles, but most important was the battle of Vicksburg. In fact, it was met with a few others, one of the turning points of the American Civil War in favor of the Union Army. Vicksburg seemed to be the last frontier for the Union Army against the Confederate Army. Siege of Vicksburg was caused mainly a series of important strategic moves of Ulysses Grant and his army, the Confederate Army, led by John Pemberton in the defense at Vicksburg, Mississippi, which was a fortress during the Civil War. The siege continued from 19 May – 4 July, 1863.
