Walking is the natural exercise.

Now a day we have cycles, petrol driven motor cars, buses & coaches, railway trains and electric trams, with motor buses running all over the country. It is so easy to ride and our climate is so hot at times that there is a great temptation for man to become over mechanized. Our grandfathers were hardier in this respect and a walk of ten or fifteen miles was a very ordinary affair to them. It is said that if we cease to use any part of the body, then nature will take away that gift. Scientist says that men of future ages will have short, weak legs but very strong and powerful arms.

The body was given us to use and exercise is the normal tonic of the body. Good digestion, a good heart and good lungs are only possible to one who indulges in natural exercise. Games are very good, swimming is excellent and so are gymnastics and drill. But all of these will not quite make up for failure to walk a certain distance every day. The gentle and prolonged exercise of walking has a beneficial. We must admit that a student like to set out late for school and depend on a quick dash on their bicycle to cover the two miles journey. Not only the students but also the employers and workers cover the distance with car and bikes. But on the day if they set out in good time and walk the distance in thirty minutes or more. Then they can feel better for the day. They can work better and sleep better at night. Try it if you don’t believe me.

A really long walk on a holiday is a thing of joy. On some holidays or in a free time, along with friends or family members we can go for long distance walk. In this way we can enjoy our selves and with enjoyment we gain health too. With exercise our minds are broadened and we talk freely of what we want to say. May be it takes one or two hours to complete the circuit, for whom, who are not in hurry. When we walk and wrap the distance and after then when we come to home, we feel like giants refreshed, confident and strong. Ready for the most refreshing sleep.
