Project Manager, “Who He is”. A project manager is a professional in the field of project management. He has the main responsibility of the any specific project.

Planning, leading, organizing, controlling, basically the project manager uses these techniques and manages the overall project and ensure the success. The project managers use various methods, techniques, formulas, to achieve the objective and apply formal and informal ways.

A professional project manager must be able to envisage the entire project from start to finish and should have the ability to ensure that this vision is realized.

Line manager is the responsible for activities making direct contributions to production of organization s basic goods or services.

Staff managers are trained professionals to advise and support the efforts of line workers.

General Managers are looking after for complex organization unit that includes many areas of functional activity.

Administration Manager is responsible for all the administrative activities in any type of organization.

There are four major activities that is the core responsibilities of any Project Manager

Traditional management: This includes decision making planning and controlling.

Communication: This refers to exchanging routine information and processing paperwork.

Human Resource Management: it involves motivating, disciplining, managing conflict, staffing, and training.                                                                                                                                            Networking: In this he is get connect socializing and interacting with outsides.

Project manager usually has heavy work load and he works long hours, so busy in work, devoting him to the work, also interruption and discontinuously are among  his rules.  

Project managers’ responsibilities vary according to the workload. They are engaged in a variety of activities(Paperwork, phone calls, meeting scheduled and unscheduled, inspection, tours/visits).Project Managers are generally “homebodies “,that is, they spend most of their time pursuing activities within their organizations. They usually pass on their orders by oral way in all levels. Sometime they convey their messages man to man and the other way is phone calls etc.

Project managers use a lot of contacts in which they highly communicate their messages to other managers continually exchange information with superiors, peers, subordinates and outsiders on an ongoing basis. Manager has the ability that they are not reflective planners. Typical managers are too busy to find uninterrupted blocks of time for reflective planning.

Information is the key instrument of any project manager; Most of their time is spend on obtaining, interpreting, and giving information. Time management is the backbone of any project, In USA, most of IT projects fails to make time management because in IT field, time is a very important phenomenon. A Project manager takes every step on time.

In managerial skills we study that  managers have technical, human, conceptual, design skills.
